Hardware Wallet Introduction - First Edition of imKey Pro

Appearance#

Size: 64mm x 38mm x 2.3mm, approximately half the size of a credit card.

Setting up a New Wallet#

1. Press the leftmost C button to turn on the device and set the language.

2. Set a PIN code, which must be a 6-8 digit number. Consecutive or repeated numbers are not allowed. Use the up and down buttons to select the digits, press the OK button to confirm, and the C button to cancel.

3. Create a new wallet, which will generate a 12-word mnemonic phrase.

4. Copy the mnemonic phrase onto paper and keep it safe.

5. After copying the mnemonic phrase, verify it.

6. Once the mnemonic phrase is verified, initialize the wallet.

7. After initialization is complete, the hardware wallet homepage will be displayed.

Connecting to the imToken Wallet on Mobile#

8. Open the imToken wallet on your mobile device, go to "Manage your wallet," and select "Connect Hardware" to connect the hardware wallet via Bluetooth. Enter the Binding code displayed on the imKey Pro to establish a successful connection.

Adding Networks#

9. The imToken wallet supports major public chains, most EVM-compatible chain networks, and the ability to add custom networks. Using Crossbell as an example, follow the steps to add it.

Transferring Funds#

10. Initiate a transfer on the imToken wallet on your mobile device.

11. When prompted with "Request confirmation from imKey," confirm and sign the transaction on the imKey Pro wallet.

12. Once confirmed, the transaction will be sent, and you can view the transaction details by scanning the corresponding QR code.

DApp Interaction#

13. As an example, access Uniswap by using the built-in browser in the imToken wallet. Search for Uniswap and open the website.

Security

As a hardware wallet, the security of imKey Pro is highly reliable. According to the official imKey Pro website, it utilizes military-grade CC EAL 6+ secure chips.

• For PC interaction with DApps, imKey Pro needs to be connected to the PC using a data cable and the imKey client software needs to be downloaded, which may be less convenient compared to using a mobile device.
• Each mnemonic phrase corresponds to only one wallet address, and advanced features like BIP-39 Passphrase are not supported. Managing multiple addresses can be cumbersome. However, for most users, as a cold wallet for asset storage, it is sufficient. Each wallet has its limitations, and adding more features would increase the complexity of use.
• It cannot be connected to a PC via Bluetooth and does not support browser extensions like MetaMask.
• For PC interaction, WalletConnect can be used.
• The battery life is not very durable.
• Each time the device is turned on, the password needs to be entered, which is inconvenient (unlike OneKey, where the password can be entered on a mobile device or PC).
